Samutkarsha - First Shibir Report
For those who are not aware of the project Samutkarsh of seva sahayog, here is the brief note.
Samutkarsha would be the first Seva Sahayog project where we would be working at the field level. Plan is to have a similar to Surajya model in 10 vastis in this year and to increase the count of vastis in subsequent years.
It will have three aspects for improvement in the lives of slum people.
First would be to start with a Abhyasika in vasti and find vasti volunteers to mentor children coming to Abhyasika. Also connect a corporate group or rather other well settled people of same area with the vasti. They will conduct some activities on every Sunday which will connect them with vasti and will also provide a support system to the vasti volunteer.
Second would be to have health and hygiene awareness campaigns with the help of Niramay. Here vasti and corporate volunteers will give helping hand for organizing these campaigns.
Third would be of Self Reliance. Helping vasti women to form and manage Self Help Groups, arranging trainings for these women, finding suitable work for them would be the activities under this section. Also providing career guidance to the grown up gals and guys would be another important activity.
We are running a pilot project in Ramnagar, warje from since last one and half year and started 2 more from since last 2 months, one Janata vasat at Parvati and another is Vanshiv on Katraj road.
On popular demand of children of these vasti’s we organized our first one night two days shibir at Sneha Seva near Singhgad. Report of same is attached here.
